The aim is to design a new center to provide an educational and energetic atmosphere for the forty-five boys currently in residence. The design of the complex seeks to endow the children with a sense of community and identity through connection and pride they feel towards spaces that they can call their own. Umueze Village Primary School

We look to design for the village of Umueze, Nigeria a safe and functional primary schoolhouse. The campus will replace one (of two) existing school houses that has become old and dilapidated, requiring a disproportionate amount of resources and maintenance. The school will be seen as the center of growth within the village not only a place for children to learn, but also as a gathering place for the students to populate and create connections that strengthen the community as a whole.

PROJECT Akilah is establishing a vocational training institute for young Rwandan women in the town of Mayange, Rwanda. Our goal is to create an environment that will allow us to fulfill our underlying mission of promoting sustainable peace in a post-conflict society through training and educating the female population with vocational skills. PROJECT AKilah has recognized that a holistic approach to reconciliation is vital. The institute will combine human rights, education, and economic empowerment to provide opportunities to the 200+ students.
