Cardozo Parent Resource Center

Cardozo Parent Resource Center

PURPOSE

Strengthening the connection between a school and its community is what this project is all about. Through a collaborative effort from 21CSF, SHAPPE, AfH-DC, Cardozo Senior High School teachers and students, parents and community members, a classroom at Cardozo will be transformed into a Parent/Community Resource Center.

The purpose of the center is to provide parents and community members with an inviting, well-equipped and staffed parent and volunteer support and learning center where they an work together proactively on family, student and school supports; and to support a community of people who inspire others to be involved in the school in order to advance the success of students.

GOALS

With a decline in student enrollment, limited parent and community involvement, and limited resources to reach parents for internet communication, we hope, along with AfH-DC’s great design solution, the Parent/Community Resource Center will:
• Attract, retain and increase student enrollment
• Improve communication with parents, community members, and organizations; expand the capacity for internet communication between the parents and the school
• Help Cardozo to develop a clear vision and guidelines for working with parents and community organizations at their school.
